Blackcurrant jam recipe - Marguerite Patten?

Been and picked blackcurrants this afternoon and now realised that my Marguerite Patten Jam book has been packed away before moving. Has anyone got her recipe? Or alternatively a good recipe for blackcurrant jam? Thanks

yes! I have , and made some this week :)

450 gm blackcurrants
300-450 ml water - use the smaller amount of water if the blackurrants are very ripe
550 gm sugar
This makes a soft jam , - reduce water to 225 ml for a firmer texture with ripe fruit ( 300 ml for less ripe fruit)
put washed fruit and water into pan. Simmer slowly until the blackcurrants are very soft. ( you should be able to rub the skin with your fingers)
Add sugar stir over a low heat until this has dissolved then boil rapidly until setting point is reached.

Jam has turned out beautifully - though thanks to DH enthusiasm I had over 3lbs of blackcurrants! It took half an hour to reach setting point!

It's so much nicer than bought! But 3lb !! - I did 2lb and that was bad enough

DH favourite jam turns out to be blackcurrant and he wanted plenty to last him! I still prefer the strawberry and rhubarb I did last weekend but the blackcurrant does taste nice.

I make a lot of jam - my DH eats it! His favourite is blackcurrant too , and gooseberry,... and mixed berry ( redcurrant/raspberry/ plus anything else I fancy putting in ! ) My favourite is rhubarb and vanilla.
I love the Marguerite Patten book . It was a present a couple of years ago , - Basic Basics- Jams, Preserves and Chutneys its called. (though I have been making jam for more years than I care to think of!) I made apple and plum chutney from her recipe last year, and it was amazing .
