Birthday cake to be made on Friday for a Sunday party

Hi,

I'm away all day on Saturday, so I'll have to get the cake ready this Friday for a Sunday party. Any advice? I'm worried it'll be dry. Can you suggest a recipe? Thanks!

I've made this one several times, including for birthdays:

Make it Friday. Follow the recipe exactly - it WILL be runnier then you think it should be.
Use a bain Marie (ie stick it in a larger pan filled with water, then stick it in the oven). This prevents doming.

Wait until it cools completely, then put it in the freezer.

Take it out of the freezer early Sunday morning and frost it. let it come to room temperature naturally.

Good luck!
