Keeping ice cream cold for a party?

Not sure whether to ask here or in camping! I'd like to serve ice cream at a birthday party, but it's at a venue with no fridge. Would need to keep it cold for about 2-3 hours I guess. Would a coolbox do it? (I love an excuse to buy something new ). There is electricity so could get a plug in one if better. Not interested in dry ice due to faff factor and presence of many small children

If you have friends who camp, maybe you could borrow an electric cool box, pack with ice and have a trial run?

buy a coolbox. Then put ice in ziplock bags and add salt. This will take the ice below zero, and so keep your icecream all cold and frozen. you should be able to keep everything frozen for up to 12 hours this way. However, you need to ensure that the ice/salt is kept in the bags (alternatively, put the ice/salt in the cool box and the icecream in sealed bags) as salt water and ice cream dont really mix....

Definite no to dry ice, big safety concerns, especially if you need to keep it in a contained environment. i second the ice and salt suggestion, very effective and safe.
