finding redcurrants

can anyone tell me where to get them, and when the season ends?looking for a supermarket supplier- I'm in London so have to travel a bit to get a big branch. hoping to try to make redcurrant jelly, thanks!

Sorry. Not seen any in our local supermarkets here yet. The ones in my garden are far from ripe though.

July /August for uk, outside-grown ones I think. I grow them, and they're not ripe yet.

They'll be in all the major supermarkets, briefly. Or on pick your own farms, if you fancy a trip to the country? Aldi had frozen ones briefly last year, IIRC.

Or, you could try your local allotment sites and see if you can buy some from someone. Loads of people seem to grow and discard them on my site!

Mine are just ripe now (SE England). But I haven't got enough to share, sorry! I agree with others that PYO or a local allotment is the way to go. Supermarket ones are too expensive to buy jam quantities (unless you really don't care about cost).

Just seen some in Sainsburys - it is one of the huge Sainsburys though so might not be in the smaller shops
