I want to have a birthday cake made locally for my dad's upcoming 80th birthday - to feed 14 people, nothing too fancy, simple in design and a classic madeira sponge. Not having done this before, I have no clue how much this is likely to cost and would like to be forewarned before I start contacting local businesses. Can anyone give me some clues? Smile

I would check sponge.co.uk, waitrose food ordering (for delivery) and m&s if you don't mind collecting it. Once you know what you want you can compare with what local bakeries offer.
