We've got into a bit of a rut with cereal and toast in the morning so looking for quick and easy healthier alternatives for breakfast (though I'm not a huge fan of porridge or muesli).

Any suggestions?

I like to make eggy bread, that's pretty fast, filling and not too unhealthy if you limit the sweet toppings.

Also I like to make up a big batch of pancakes on the weekend and reheat them for the next few days.

Kippers - put in a jug of boiling water for 5 mins, go and do something else and serve with butter, lemon & brown bread

I've never heard that before. Just drain and serve?

Yoghurt and berries is easy and quick.

We rotate that with porridge, different types of egg breakfasts and muesli on weekdays. Sometimes also melon.

More elaborate cooked breakfasts on the weekends.

Ready made pancakes or waffles, toasted and served with strawberries and blueberries.
English muffin toasted with peanut butter and chopped banana.
Crumpets with lemon curd.

My DC would be thrilled if I gave them yogurt for breakfast. Is it enough for growing children or will they be hungry again soon after? I can't quite get my head around the concept of a carb-free breakfast!

There's some carb in the fruit/berries gnu and when the DC were younger they had a tsp of honey on top, but only one still adds that.

We make cornmeal pancakes sometimes. They always disappear pretty quickly with a little butter, honey or jam.

Banana pancakes are really quick and easy.

One large banana, 2 eggs and a spoonful of flour. Mash, blend together and fry in butter.

Makes 4 thick pancakes and I serve with berries.

DIY muesli: I got unsweetened puffed rice from the health shop, then let the kids choose things like dried apricots, frozen raspberries, flaked almonds, pumpkin seeds, raisins etc to add. It means you can avoid all the things in shop bought muesli that you don't like.

This is a link for 'no recipe granola' that you could have with yoghurt.

Smoked haddock (I buy the cook from frozen fillets) on buttered spinach.

Low sugar muffins.

Banana and oatmeal muffins(no added sugar) which keep stash in freezer
Toasted bagels with cream cheese,chop banana and dry apricots
Porridge/soaked oats dep on time of year pimped to the kids preferences (current faves incl pear,hazelnuts and allspice.banana and tahini.strawberry, vanilla and flaked almonds.peach,raspberry and sunflower seeds)
Cheese on toast and apple/pear slices
Soft boil eggs with Marmite toast soldiers and cherry tomatoes
Chop fruit layered up yogurt and top granola/toasted oats and sunflower seeds
Warm rolls(part bake only take 8mibs to Cook) with scrambled eggs and baby spinach leaves and chop tomatoes(they both rash maybe I have weird kids?!)
Toasted engliah muffins with but butter and slices apple/pear

(We are big breakfast fansGrin)

Big fan of green smoothies here - the name's a misnomer; we add a tablespoon of cocoa powder per person and the spinach disappears. Loads of recipes online.

Yoghurt with fruit and sliced almonds or a dollop of omega seed mix.

Scrambled egg.

Baked beans with toast or leftover potatoes.

Apples with peanut butter to dip into.

Cheese and fruit.
