I bought some cauliflower 'steaks' in tesco, essentially just thick cut cauliflower, they come with a garlic and herb drizzle. What would you serve with it?

Had to google out of curiosity.

Elllicam · 18/06/2016 17:25

And wine?

Solasum · 18/06/2016 17:40

Wow. Somehow it makes me think of WW2 style 'meat' pies and similar.

RJnomore1 · 18/06/2016 17:43

I would quite enjoy those. I'd be tempted to serve with COus COus and a nice salad

cdtaylornats · 18/06/2016 22:42

I've had cauliflower steaks with pork chops, but I just bought a cauliflower and sliced it.

ShelaghTurner · 18/06/2016 22:48

Wtf?! Shock There really is one born every minute!

PrettyDumb · 18/06/2016 22:51

Spinach gratin would go nicely with that

BarbaraofSeville · 20/06/2016 11:28

So the latest thing for supermarkets is to take a quid's worth of cauliflower and turn it into about a fiver's worth of steaks and rice by slicing the middle bit into steaks and grating the edges into rice.

They must be laughing their socks off and this is probably also why there was a thread moaning about a shortage of whole cauliflowers a few weeks ago. Supermarkets won't sell whole ones for a pound or less each when they can charge five times as much for it to be chopped into steaks and rice.

It's consumerism gone fucking mad. It really is. It would be almost funny if we weren't sitting by watching these massive conglomerates laughing at us while they destroy the plant.
