Can I use a slow cooker to confit?

...or will I burn the house down?

I have a duck. It needs cooking tomorrow and I'm out at work all day and out in the early evening (home in between).
If I joint the duck can I confit it in the slow cooker while I'm at work or will it burst into flames? I've only used it for aqueous foods before!
Has anyone done this?
Thanks

I have, leave it on low and it'll be fine.
