Every supermarket used to sell them and now I can't find them anywhere? Are they out of season? Is there a fig shortage?

Hi. I think Aldi or Lidl do them. Good price too so my work mates say!

They'll be with the flying ones that you can't give.

Wait until late August/September.

That is their season.

We have all got used to having everything we want, regardless of seasons.

Blondie1984 · 14/05/2016 23:17

Maybe there has been a run on them after they were on the Hemsley programme earlier this week.....

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/05/2016 23:20

I had no idea we grew figs in the UK.
TBF I tend to ignore seasons more than I probably should.

HappyNevertheless · 14/05/2016 23:28

The season is August September.
I doubt you are going to find any at this time of the year.

Allalonenow · 14/05/2016 23:31

You will find them again around September.
What were you planning to make, maybe we could suggest an alternative?

Would the soft semi dried work, for instance in a sauce?

They sell them in M&S. I bought some reduced ones yesterday.

The figs on trees local to me (south france) are still very small and hard.. you'll need to wait at least until end june/early july followed usually by a second crop in september, or get them from much warmer climes!

Waitrose sells them but they are out of season and v expensive.

Artandco · 19/05/2016 13:25

August is seasonal. So most are hard still atm
