DS doesnt like jam ir cream what other filling can I use. He loves chocolate was thinking choc butter icing?

Yes to choc butter icing. I'd be tempted to mix in a little orange essence to stop it being too sweet.

Lemon curd is lovely, especially with the zest of a few lemons through the batter.

Also, while I am thinking about it, Mary Berry does a version with dissolved instant coffee through the batter and then coffee butter icing.

Chocolate ganache! I'm sure there's a proper recipe, but I simply melt chocolate, then add the same amount of cream and whisk. Bloody gorgeous!
