I've only just discovered that you can buy frozen chopped onion, frozen mash and frozen roast potatoes. They honestly have (vaguely) changed my life! What else am I missing out on, what have you discovered.

I absolutely love frozen onions and frozen garlic. Seriously life changing (I do a lot of slow cooking, it literally halves the prep time).

LisaRinnasLips · 12/04/2016 15:42

Frozen sofrito mix - onion celery and carrot. Perfect base for bolognese sauce and soups! Saves so much chopping.

Frozen spinach - chuck it in tomato sauces or soups

Frozen cauliflower cheese isn't too bad either just add extra seasoning and more cheese

dreamingofsun · 12/04/2016 15:59

yes to onions. lazy ginger - too much grating for fresh and goes off as i dont use enough. also lazy or frozen chilli

Luckystar1 · 12/04/2016 16:11

Lisa where do you get the sofrito?

Microwave rice. I know, it's worse for you than normal rice, but jesus it's quick!

dlwelly · 12/04/2016 16:19

Tinned carrots! They're peeled, chopped and come in their own water to heat them up in! No more faff with raw ones anymore. Only 30p or so per tin too!

LadyPeterWimsey · 12/04/2016 16:24

Garlic oil. No smelly hands or tubes of garlic purée languishing in the fridge, and so quick. Combine it with sofrito and dinner is much speedier.

When I do bother to use whole garlic, I use the ready peeled stuff that comes in jars in Aldi and a queer it through the garlic press.

It is exceptionally lazy, I know.

SunshineBee · 12/04/2016 16:28

I have never ever seen frozen avocado but will be on the lookout now. Would be so handy for my nutribullet too!

P1nkP0ppy · 12/04/2016 16:29

Microwave rice, no more pans boiling over 😊

iklboo · 12/04/2016 16:32

Lazy products (ginger, garlic, chilli)
Boodles (butternut squash noodles)
Frozen herbs

"Microwave rice. I know, it's worse for you than normal rice, but jesus it's quick!"

Frozen rice, all the conveniance of the sachets but no added ingredients, it's literally just rice.

I have never got the hang of cooking rice, it goes from under to over cooked in seconds, lol.

Frozen rice is amazing.

LisaRinnasLips · 12/04/2016 16:34

M&S do a good frozen soffrito

lem73 · 12/04/2016 16:35

I used to think tinned new potatoes looked disgusting but they've become a godsend to me. They're great for bulking out casseroles and curries.

MrsJayy · 12/04/2016 16:36

Frozen chilli and coriander, cheaper and less waste

MrsJayy · 12/04/2016 17:38

Ah ok didnt know that but still rice in 3 minutes

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 12/04/2016 17:41

Garlic paste. Amazing. Milder than fresh garlic, no waste (we can't be the only ones who regularly find shrivelled up garlic cloves at the bottom of the veg drawer).

MrsJayy · 12/04/2016 17:46

Yes ive stopped buying real garlic id probably use the jar garlic though
