....and were served roast chicken, homemade Caesar salad and lots of fresh crusty bread and butter; plus some sort of pudding and plentiful wine and/or beer, would you feel you'd been well fed or would you go home hungry?

Chuck a trifle in there and it's perfect Saturday lunch IMO

Yes, I store all my spuds in the fridge too. It's dark and cool in there so they keep well. The only veg I don't store in the fridge are large onions.

You can invite me anytime as it sounds like a well tasty lunch and I'm a cheaper guest as I'd only drink soft drinks/water.

Do they keep well in the fridge, how long? I'm intrigued by this (altho as a family of potato addicts we never have potatoes left too long).

Sounds good to me, I'd choose crusty bread over potatoes every time. Eton Mess sounds good too, but not salted caramel anything, I don't like it and it seems to be everywhere. And yes to nice soft drinks.

There's beer so I'd be happy.

No to potato salad. Shoe string fries might work....
