Recommendations: New Kitchen Mixer

A few days ago I started a thread asking for recommendations for a bread machine, but from the thread (although most people raved about them) I realised that what I actually need is a kitchen mixer. At the moment I only have a hand held blender.

So what kitchen mixer do you have/have had? And what would you recommend?

My bargain has arrived, and is wonderful in all respects, ....except for the smell of burning when I start the motorShock. Do you think this is just a teething thing? Might whisk a couple of eggs and see if it burns off or gets worse...

SO please that you have all finally figured what you want. I am still flip flopping between the KMC 010 (I don't need a chopper package) and a cheaper Chef version. What to do what to do!

I am in love with my kenwood chef, it has a dough hook, so does most of the hardwork of bread making and it is dishwasher safe (but mine is decades old still has a china bowl)
