was watching an ep of nigella bites on uk food channel... (breastfeeding at the same time!!!) and she made a lovely thing with prawns all minced up and then deep fried (healthy! i know!!!!) anyway, the title of this ep was called Home Alone and even though i have the Nigella Bites Book, it doesn't have this chapter or recipe in! (as far as i can see!)

anyone got the recipe... or een know what i'm talking about!!!!

Thanks!

Didn't know that prawns had balls!

LipstickMum · 26/05/2004 18:49

Hmmm I saw that episode, was it the one where she had a friend round for lunch (although that doesn't tie in with the 'home alone' title I admit!) I made them and they were delicious, not sure I have the recipe I will check...

Sounds lovely, Bea, can you post it anyway 4 me as don;t have that book.

Thank you

Kalex! No Probs!!

250g raw prawns
1 clove garlic, chopped finely
2 spring onions, chopped finely
half teaspoon salt
60g plain flour
4 teaspoon sherry
olive oil

Mince prawns, mix or blend with garlic, spring onions, salt, flour, sherry and enough water to make a batter. Let it stand, cover with clingfilm for 1 hour.

Then fry, in drops of 1 teaspoon, in olice oil poured to a depth of 5cm in the pan, for about a minute on each side...

Hmmmm! make me feel hungry just thinking about it!!!

Ah, Bea, so glad you got had the recipe all along and also that another, much more diligent MNer than I, posted it for you. I got waylaid with my dd and then we had my nieces staying for 2 nights, it was chaos. Did you make them? I seem to remember they were deish

bea · 06/06/2004 14:39

I've just made these, & ds has scoffed the lot! They're not very ball shaped, but I just threw the flour in rather than measuring it. The odd nibble I was allowed were yummy. I hope 4 teaspoons of sherry isn't too much for a 2-and-a-quarter year old....

bea · 06/06/2004 19:18

Hmmm! ditto HoxtonChick! Fortunatley! DD was not in an eating mood tonight so me and dh scoffed the lot!!! hee! hee!

i didn't use sherry (had none!) so i used chinese rice wine! (as whenever i've needed to use chinese rice wine, they said sherry would do so i thought vice versa should be ok!)

we thought they'd make lovely little nibbles when entertaining!!!! (huh! when do we ever get the chance to hold something as posh as entertainment that doesn't include nibbles that are doritos!!!)
