I've got lots of stuff with pasta in the feezer for ds and some lentil casserole. Need some ideas for vegetable based meals without pasta, lentils or cheese (makes him puke). Was wondering about something and cous cous???

Try substituting pasta with rice, cous cous or polenta. Veg in white sauce always a good one, also soups.

Have you got the Annabel Karmel baby recipe book? There are loads of good recipes there. DD3 (11 months) likes the courgette gratin, courgette & pea souper, potato & leek - all very easy to make, and mostly potato-based.

Try cous cous made with different grains, not just from wheat, and get the instant version. Also quinoa is really good, takes about 20 mins to cook but is very nutritious and quite versatile. Other than that I use rice, millet and polenta. You can make something like risotto or pilaff but substitute the rice for millet or barley to ring the changes. Polenta's also good when left to harden, cut into strips and then either pan fried or grilled with or without cheese on top and served with roast veg. Also falafel, houmous, tofu burgers (just check the salt) and eggy bread.

I found Sara Lewis' Veggie Food for Kids brilliant for recipes, advice and ideas. Otherwise there's Finger Foods for Babies and Toddlers by Jenny Maizels that's 90% veggie.
