Using up bananas without making banana bread

We always have ripe bananas but I'm sick of banana bread, what else could I do?

Banana pancakes - mash one whole banana, whisk in two eggs. Dollop into a frying pan on a medium heat. These freeze so you can make loads.

Banana ice cream - freeze bananas then whizz in a blender. Add chocolate chips.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 20/02/2016 13:05

I use them in a crumble with other fruit, like apricots or blackberries.

Or mash them up in a bowl and a drop of cream and some sugar and eat - yum!

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 20/02/2016 13:06

Or banana fritters. Slice, dip in batter and fry. Sprinkle with sugar and eat.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 20/02/2016 13:07

Or cook them in their skins on the BBQ.

Banoffee pie

scandichick · 20/02/2016 13:17

Cut them open like a boat (crap explanation but can't think of a better one), stuff with chocolate and bung in the oven , or wrap in tinfoil and put into the fire if you have one.

VertigoNun · 20/02/2016 13:20

How do you make the ice cream?

WanderingTrolley1 · 20/02/2016 13:23

Make a smoothie!

Banana, a little ice cream and milk, some chopped nuts, a dash of vanilla essence, et voila!

Allalonenow · 20/02/2016 13:25

Banana sandwiches for tea?

Or make banana sandwich with brioche, fry till golden, serve with a sprinkle of icing sugar for a cheap quick pudding for children.

Make Bananas Foster (needs vanilla icecream)

Bananas in custard, for a retro pudding [smie]

Serve sliced with lime as a curry side dish.

Allalonenow · 20/02/2016 13:27

Add some Baileys to that smoothie for a real treat Grin

FoxFeatures · 20/02/2016 13:28

Baked banana is lovely. Wrap with some butter and sugar in foil.

Tiredbadger · 20/02/2016 13:29

Banana flapjack is good Smile

Snozberry · 20/02/2016 13:31

Literally just bananas vertigo freeze them in chunks, then once they are frozen blend them up. They turn into a smooth ice-cream-like dessert.

There are versions with yogurt which are more like real ice cream such as this one:

Roseberrry · 20/02/2016 13:31

Mmm I don't know which to choose!
Do you have a recipe for the banana flapjack badger?

I love banana flavoured stuff, hate eating them fresh though. Think I will give all of these a go

Freeze them. Probably easier peeled in chunks but I have also just put them in the freezer. They make a really good snack - you have to wait for them to defrost a bit but don't wait too long as eventually they become black mush.

moreshitandnofuckingredemption · 20/02/2016 13:33

Blitz with milk = milkshake

howabout · 20/02/2016 13:35

Banana and avocado mashed together on brown bread sandwiches.

Tiredbadger · 20/02/2016 21:42

I think I just found any flapjack recipe and added 2 mashed up bananas into the mixture before baking Smile

Pinkheart5915 · 23/02/2016 19:11

Banoffee pie yum!

Pinkheart5915 · 23/02/2016 19:11

Flapjacks are good with bannana

Justalittleowl · 11/04/2017 15:14

Put them in sticky toffee pudding to make sticky banoffee pudding.

NeverTwerkNaked · 11/04/2017 15:15

Eggless chocolate cake! Use half a ripe banana to replace each egg! Really lovely
