Vegetarian sausages

So, I've given up all processed meat. Tonight we had sausage & mash for dinner. I had Linda McCartney sausages & they were bland, tasteless & had a horrible texture. I looked at the quorn & cauldron ones & they both looked grim. Any recommendations?

Egg If you do a search on here, you'll find my hotdog sausage casserole recipe, if any use.

Thanks RemusSmile.

Slight thread hijack but does anyone know where you can get veggie meatballs? DD's had them at school and likes them but I haven't been able to find any.

originalmavis · 21/01/2016 18:26

Only IKEA!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/01/2016 18:29

Sainsbo's do them - can't remember if own brand or Quorn. DD2 loves them, but I think they're horrible.

RiverTam · 21/01/2016 18:31

Bugger, I've looked in Sainsbo's, can't see them there. Thanks anyway!

Ughnotagain · 21/01/2016 18:50

Yep, Quorn do them.

SanityClause · 21/01/2016 18:54

I like the cauldron ones - both types.

They do look a bit insipid in the packet, but you brush them with a little oil, and bale in the oven, and they go a lovely golden brown, and taste delicious.

Sainsburys sell vegetarian meatballs. I think they're cauldron or maybe Linda McCartney. Never eaten them, but DH (carnivore) enjoyed them.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/01/2016 20:03

Which Linda McCartney ones. I loathe the plain ones, but like the red onion ones...

Adarajames · 22/01/2016 02:12

I find most of the Linda Macartney stuff tasteless and horrible texture, only decry thing in that range is the country pies in my view

Adarajames · 22/01/2016 02:12

Decry?!= decent! Stupid phone!

Higge · 24/01/2016 21:15

Tesco's are good and Cauldron but they are processed - get some meat and make your own.

whois · 25/01/2016 17:31

I like the cauldron ones - probably worth trying the various brands.

Vistaverde · 29/01/2016 21:51

If you have a Waitrose near you the Good Life ones are really nice. They are not cheap but I think they are worth it.

Quorn do nice veggie meatballs. We aren't veggie but often have a bag in the freezer in case of emergencies!

Don't know about sausages but a veggie friend buys a packet mix and makes them from that when she fancies a sausage roll. She says they are delicious!

In case you ever happen to be in New York......
Yeah Dawg do the most amazing vegan 'hotdogs'.

Lilyannapollyanna · 09/02/2016 08:37

The HECK range aren't vegetarian but aren't full of processed crap either they're fab!
