Bless him! Haven't got a clue Bumping for you in the hope of MarsLady or someone else equally competent in the kitchen!

cut out rounds of the puff pastry, put mioncemeat in, put another round on top and then brish with egg/milk. Cook in hot oven for 10-15 mins (?) - puff pastry mince pies

)make sure you roll it our quite thin though as it does puff up quite high)

Roll out flat, spread mincemenat over one side, roll up like a Swiss roll, cut in thin slices, bake little roulades or whatever they'd be called.

Actually I usually do my mince pies with puff pastry (well they are not pies exactly...)

This one is on the Waitrose website:

here

There was a similar one in this months free magazine at Waitroses where you sort of fold over the pastry to make a croissant-like shape.

I have also done one where you spread mincemeat over the whole sheet of pastry (apart from 1cm or so at the edge), then roll it up like a swiss roll, cut it into slices and bake until golden.

how about this...

350g/12oz ready-made, pre-rolled puff pastry
icing sugar, to dust
1 jar mincemeat

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 230C/450F/Gas 8.
  2. Dust a flat surface with icing sugar and roll the puff pastry out very thin, using more icing sugar, if necessary, to stop it from sticking to the surface.
  3. Place a small tart case into the oven to preheat.
  4. Cut out the pastry with a chefs' ring or a knife to fit the tart tin and carefully line the preheated tin with the pastry.
  5. Fill the pastry case with mincemeat and place in the oven for ten minutes. Remove from the oven when the pastry is cooked and golden.
  6. To serve, dust with icing sugar.

Crossed posts with tinker!

I've done Tinker's idea - lovely and I don't particularly like mince pies! Mincemeat pinwheels. If you;ve got toasted almonds sprinkle them over before you roll up. Or anything else you fancy.

I know, they do look rather nice though (and I loathe mince pie type stuff!!!) must have been Oliver's cookery skills and the fab mn that made them so nice!!
