Looking for as the title says, really. I generally do Madhur Jaffrey's tarka dal if I'm doing lentils, which is of course lovely, or alternatively fry onions, garlic and chilli and add lentils with root veg and chopped tomatoes, or again do Jaffrey's green lentils with kale, but recently I had dal makhni in a restaurant and it was completely fucking lovely and made me think I'm probably missing out on a whole world of flavours just because I don't know the possibilities of the things, so thought I would call on the collective mumsnet wisdom.

Haven't tried to make it yet, but it sounds very close to what I ate which just blew my tastebuds in an immense way.
