Best oven chips?

GingerPCatt · 11/12/2015 16:35

I'm stocking up our freezer with some easy meals. Normally I try to convince DH to make oven chips from scratch but I'd like to get some frozen ones in for when we can't be bothered. I haven't found any that I've really liked. DH likes chunky chips but I'm open to any suggestions. Many thanks!

McCains anything.

Higge · 11/12/2015 18:26

Used to get these chips from Waitrose but they have changed their recipe and now contain additives - worth a go if you don't mind that.

SanityClause · 11/12/2015 18:40

We just had aunt Bessie's crinkle cut chips with egg, and they were divine!

jelliebelly · 11/12/2015 18:44

Mccains crinkle cut

Stinkyfeet · 11/12/2015 18:57

Tesco Homestyle are very nice.

CharleyDavidson · 11/12/2015 18:59

Any really, as long as you have an air frier to cook them really nicely in. :)

BeaufortBelle · 11/12/2015 19:06

McCains crinkle. There's also a little silvery packet out there for £2.99 for 2.5 small portions. They were superior but really the price. Reminds self to look at deep fat fryers again Grin

PitPatKitKat · 11/12/2015 21:54

Micro fries are really good.

southeastastra · 11/12/2015 21:56

just cut potatoes and put them in the oven

IHeartKingThistle · 11/12/2015 22:00

McCains French Fries. I know they're thin but they taste like chips and I won't buy any others now!

reallybadidea · 11/12/2015 22:03

Aldi French fries are really nice.

CremeEggThief · 11/12/2015 22:03

Aldi oven chips are the best I've ever had. They taste like proper chips.

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 11/12/2015 22:08

The new Albert Bartlett ones! We used to have bog standard Sainsbury's ones but when we moved, they were rubbish in the new (old) gas oven. We went through loads til we settled on the Albert Bartlett ones.

mudandmayhem01 · 11/12/2015 22:16

Aldi French fries get another vote in this house

snozzlemaid · 11/12/2015 22:28

Aunt Bessie's are definitely the best.

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/12/2015 22:30

Tesco Finest or Aunt Bessies

FunnysInLaJardin · 11/12/2015 22:33

have spent years trying to find the best oven chips and guess what? Iceland oven chips for a £1 a bag for 1.5 kg are easily as good as Mc Cains Shock. I never ever thought I would be saying that but tis true!

Tanfastic · 11/12/2015 22:34

Tesco home style knock spots off MCCain IMO. They are also cheaper Grin

GingerPCatt · 13/12/2015 11:08

Thanks all! I'll try the Aldi ones first and then some others if we don't like those.
Iceland sweet potato fries are amazing if anyone is wondering. Smile

McCain do rapid fries as well. Shoestring type, but cook in 5 mins. With Walls 2 minute sausages. And egg. Bread and butter. Mmmmmm .

Not 100% healthy, but for a quick meal on the fly once in a while it's very tasty.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 15/12/2015 16:45

Waitrose essential chunky oven chips are great.

P1nkP0ppy · 15/12/2015 16:47

Definitely Iceland sweet potato chips or McCains.

NoahVale · 15/12/2015 16:54

asda home style

Donge13 · 15/12/2015 17:02

Aldi chunky oven chips in the grey bag, best oven chips ever!

ThatsNotMyRabbit · 15/12/2015 17:08

Oven chips cooked in the oven are MINGING and never cook evenly.

Get a Actifry and ANY chips come out perfectly crispy, golden and even :)
