Food processors

I've decided a need a food processor. I love cooking but find the chopping/mixing laborious. Having never had one before I'm not entirely sure what I need to look for. Advice and recommendations?

This thread is quite old now, but we’ve recently refreshed our guide to the best food processor with plenty of high-quality options recommended by Mumsnetters. We hope you find it useful.

Do you already have a blender? If not try and get one that has a blender jug as well.

Check out the Which? reviews and get one that is going to be good at the basics (chopping, slicing, grating) rather than one that does a gazillion different things you'll probably never need.

I got one of their best buy ones (white, plastic, not trendy, no mixer hook) a few years ago and wouldn't be without it. Use it almost every time I cook to slice onions, grate carrots etc.

Thanks, I'll do that. I didn't even think of which! I have only got a hand blender so that's a good idea.
