Christmas Treats

Usually over Xmas hols me and the dd's (8 and 6) do a lot of baking together. Was talking about things they would like to bake and try and they said the usual cupcakes, muffins and brownies, was just wondering if anyone had any quirky twists to make them a bit different, any unusual fruit combinations that go well.

Or any other fun things we can bake together?

Hairy Bikers' Mississippi mud pie is amazing and quite easy to make (we don't bother with the creamy topping)
My dd likes to make it at xmas as she hates all traditional xmas puds.

How about ones that have veggies in?

Something with choux? Eclaires/profiteroles?

Making a gingerbread house?!

DD and I are making Kringles after school tomorrow

Never heard of Kringles, but having Googled, they look good.

Chocolate brownies with gingerbread spicing. Mmm.
