I want to jazz up some shop bought mincemeat - any ideas?

I have to make do with whatever mince meat is on offer out here in Cyprus - there is not much selection and even less ingrediants to make my own but what can I add to a jar of shop bought mincemeat to make a little more special?

a grated apple, extra booze, more spices, and glace cherries if it doesn't have them in already

lemon or orange zest
