Anyone used & fed their Christmas cake with Tia Maria?

Or should I just stick with good old brandy?

I've got plenty of Tia Maria (long story) so it would be handy, but it's a lot of effort to make a Christmas cake for it to turn out crap. So unless loads of you have done Tia Maria and it was fine, I'll probably go with brandy!

I haven't fed a traditional one with Tia Maria but I make this nigella recipe every year and it is fabulous: www.nigella.com/recipes/view/chocolate-fruit-cake

Oh yes I've made that twice and it's ace (and is the main reason behind why I've got 2 bottles!)

Tia Maria might be nice in a xmas cake. But I have never tried so can't say.

I buy brandy for my cakes (and drink a few glasses whilst 'feeding' the cakes..) but this year have also given them a wee sip of Amaretto too.

We have lots and don't really like it in our house. Not as a drink anyway.

Will work I guess - taste like the marzipan
