We have decided to exclude meat from our Christmas dinner. Any suggestions of meat free alternative to the meat. I have tried anything roast not sure where the recipe was from but it didn't taste very nice and had to drown it in gravy.

What about some type of vegetarian Wellington like this www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/vegetables-recipes/mushroom-and-squash-vegetarian-wellington/#1YpjfrScI6WmhskV.97 could make it the night before too and just bake on the day

mushroom and chestnut pudding
I have made them and they are gorgeous

Rose Elliot's Christmas book is really good, we have been having her Festive Nut Wellington for 18 years!
Other family members usually have a Quorn, mushroom and chestnut pie
We also cook a Quorn roast as we like that in sandwiches.
You need to browse for recipes, there are loads of suggestions out there.
Farmer's market and food fayres at Christmas time often have vegetarian dishes on offer.
Practice over the next few meals when you are having a roast dinner with gravy and you will find your ideal meal.

This looks impressive and is not difficult.

M&S do a lovely seasonal nut and cranberry roast but I couldn't find it last year - fingers crossed they stock it this year!

What's really nice if you caramelise some shallots, bake some butternut squash and. Blend together with a lot of mature cheddar and wendslydale (spelling disaster there) wrap in puff pastry and bake.

I'm making this for vegetarian Christmas dinner this year.

I've made this a few times for my vegetarian and non-veggie family. It tends to go down well (and is also wheat free which can be unusual for nut roasts...)
