I really, really, really need an alernative to fresh cream

for my cake (black forest). I know fresh cream will be the best but really can't do it. Has to be something that doesn't need to be kept chilled.

If I don't get a better suggestion I will be using dream topping

Leave it outside. In this weather it doesn't need to be in a fridge. And I'm sure a yummy black forest won't last that long anyway!

Its not just the chilling - its my inability to whip cream I am worried about too. I am a whipped cream virgin. I just knpw it will all go horribly horribly wrong.

I could but I sisn't think butter icing would go with black forest. I guess I could add some cocoa though and make it choc butter icing?

why not try pracising whipping cream beforehand - it really isn't that hard if you have a hand blender or mixer and you use double cream

Oh Santa,it really can be only cream.
Especially if you've made it yerself.

If you put it in the fridge for an hour after whipping it gets really firm.

yes, please PLEASE use the whipped cream (whip double cream). it sounds so yummy, and has me craving cake now, but really NOT with butter icing, even dream topping would be better!

start practising whipping tomorrow and you'll be fine by Xmas ( plus several pounds heavier from eating cream with everything)

I have got a whipping plate on my moulinex blender thingy - works well with angel delight - never tried it with cream though.
