My Grandparents have just invited themselves round for dinner on Friday evening....I am at work all day and need something for 6 people that needs little effort but looks (and tastes!) good.

They eat most things but prefer more traditional things. Also have DD who is 5 but eats most things too.

Any ideas please anyone?!

Lasagna that you make the night before and just reheat?

Chuck a chicken and some tesco finest roasties in the oven, steamed carrots and peas, pre made gravy, job done :)

Cottage pie if they like traditional food? You could make the mince filling this week and freeze it. Defrost it on Friday. Make some mash, assemble and bake. Or embrace the wonder of frozen mash Wink. Serve with lots of veg. Do you want to do a pud too?

Brilliant ideas thanks. They won't eat lasagne as they don't like pasta and are going to my sisters for a roast on Sunday. Cottage pie sounds perfect though! Will need to do a pud too......just wondering if I can get away with shop bought or if I should make something.....! Thanks!

This recipe is good if you want to make pud. I weigh out all the dry ingredients in advance then mix it all up just before putting it in the oven. It looks very weird but works, honest! www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/784637/selfsaucing-jaffa-pudding. I've adapted it to make just plain chocolate flavour as DP doesn't like orange/chocolate and it's fine.

That looks delicious and perfect...thank you!
