Anyone used 'COOK'?

A friend used them last year for Christmas dinner. She said its on the Waitrose level quality wise. This year they're doing dinner for 8 at £100.

Reviews are mixed, and some are really poor. Any experience here of them please?

I have had one thing from 'Cook' - salmon in sauce dish.

It was very ordinary & said it was for 2. Neither DH nor I are have huge appetites, but it wasn't enough.

I get their ready meals fairly regularly. The quality has always been excellent and very tasty. The portions are on the small side, so I'd probably buy a bit extra if it was for Christmas dinner.

Lovely food. Quite expensive.

Underwhelming and overpriced

Love them, especially the huge shepherd pie type dishes. Look out for special offers / 3 for 2s.

Normally people are raving about them on threads (me included ), I'm surprised it's such a mixed response here. We had our Christmas dinner from them last year, it was fantastic and huge. We'll probably do it again this year if we get a chest freezer for the garage in time.

DH's Aunt calls it 'overpriced Iceland'

We had the Christmas dinner last year and I'm never cooking Christmas dinner again as it was so good. They do 10% off for new mums too

I've had a tour of their factory in Kent. Quality and processes are top notch. Very ethical family business.

We buy loads from them. It is a franchise business but the food is cooked centrally. It is expensive but cheaper than a takeaway. We go for the stew type things mostly - great curries, stroganoff, chicken Dijon and the trad British stuff is also good as is Party food eg coronation chicken. Not sure I'd buy a Christmas dinner from them though.

I use it for occasional times when we need proper food but haven't had time. I like a change from my own cooking too and the honeycomb ice cream is just amazing

I use it and would recommend certain dishes: you have to try a few and some of them we would never have again (I think some of the fish/salmon dishes didn't go down so well in our house) and some have become family favourites (eg beef casseroles, coq au vin, there was a venison casserole last year we liked). We use them when I don't want to/am not able to cook myself. DH simply cannot cook and we prefer it to a takeaway meal. We have a shop near to us, not sure I would drive a long way for it.

We have always found the portion sizes to be fine but we do buy the meals for 4 so perhaps they are more generous.

Oh and some of the puddings were yummy as well.

I agree with iwaly. Some dishes are better than others so if you are planning to do 'cook' for guests try your menu before hand.

We will be doing the Xmas meal for 2 to feed 2 adults, a 5 yr old and a 16 month old but we all have small appetites and will buy extra pigs in blankets!! We use their meals quite regularly and their kids meals occasionally for the childminder we find their portions really generous! For example the takeaway deal for £10 (main, side and rice) feeds 3 of us

Bought a few things, just tasted like decent enough ready meals. I.e. Not something I would particularly want to eat again.

Some of the desserts are fab, much better than waitrose or M&S's desserts in my opinion, Cook's taste much more home-made. Highly, highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding.

Never had quite as much enthusiasm for the savoury dishes.
