Am making chilli tonight - has to be with a packet of powder unfortunately. I usually add tomato, kidney beans and chick peas... what else could I do with it to make it a bit different?

agree with the sugar - always helps!

spices, I do smoked paprika, ground cumin, chilli powder mainly.
Maybe some coriander seeds.

I guess for the kids dont add too much chilli at all. You can always add extra to the adult portions if need be.

tsk, you should be slip,slap,slopping.
Baby growing nicely, norks enormous and waistline vanished. I knew I shouldn't have told all and sundry that I was pregnant the minute the stick turned blue.

I put

Minced beef
Bacon
Tinned tomatoes (chopped and with garlic and herbs)
Chilli beans
Red and Green Peppers
Sweetcorn
Dried chilli seeds (only a few)

Then serve with rice, potato wedges, sour cream and warm refried beans.
