Help I need two similar but not matching cakes for an 18yo & a 7yo

My mum will have both her grandaughters with her this year between their birthdays so we are having a big(ish) party

My Dd will be 18, my niece will be 7

DD has a fruit cake (already made) 10 inch circular, my neice will have a chocolate sponge (probably)

They both like Frozen, but I'd rather DD's 18th cake is a little more adult/less Disney

But I am stumped - any ideas at all?

I could do niece a Elsa cake with a doll - or cake with an Olaf on but what do I do for my Dd then?

NB I am not a natural cake decorator but I 'cheat' well; these are pics of DD's 16th

Could the older DD have a frozen coloured cake ie pale blue with white snowflakes etc with the younger one more character based?

Katymac · 26/10/2015 17:39

I can't seem to post the pics there is one on my profile

Maybe - but she isn't really into Blue

It's tricky

I suppose they don't 'need' to match I was just being tidy

Or more spring like colours from frozen fever Smile

Katymac · 26/10/2015 17:46

That could work

How about something like this for the 18th

And then like this for the other one

What about white with white snowflakes, a whiter version of this. If DN has Elsa, with blue snowflakes of the same style, that would tie up??

Katymac · 26/10/2015 21:05

Maybe I should forget the frozen idea

DDis also interested in Music/Dance/Disney...

& I don't know my niece very well as she lives abroad

Mlaybe I could do DD a carribean paradise &still do Olaf andit could be 'In Summer!'

No feeling inspired just challenged

Minnie Mouse.... Your dd do pink and white spots with a bow. On the 7 year old add ears and cover in pink , add eyes and nose bow between the ears etc
I did a similar thing but did cupcakes for the older ones.

Katymac · 26/10/2015 21:26

Not Minnie Mouse - DDwould have kittens!!

Something lion king maybe?

Thanks for everyones help - I just. don't know what DD would fancy I'll keep trying out ideas and really appreciate everyone's suggestions

I'd do two versions of those maltesers spilling out of a bag cake. One maltesers and all chocolately and one skittles or some thing sweetie like.

GreenSand · 27/10/2015 12:09

something like this is deceptively easy

Katymac · 27/10/2015 13:52

I'm still dithering about chocolate decorations on a fruit cake Wink

She spotted a white chocolate & pink version

Ah yes choc on a fruitcake maybe not. You could do one cake for both 'happy 25th birthday'?!

Katymac · 27/10/2015 15:59

Now my dad would like that!

If you do M&M's spilling out you could get your DDs photo put on them.

I did that for my goddaughters 21st and it ammused her to give them to her friends

Katymac · 06/11/2015 17:56

OK DD has decided on the night sky layer of the Lion King cake & that my Niece would like an actual Elsa cake

Oh bugger!
