Okay so I made the cake - now what?

Well DD and I made my first ever Christmas cake today (can you believe I got to 39 without ever making one!). I used a recipe from "She" magazine for a moist cake which involved outting half the fruit in the blender to puree, although I used OJ instead of the suggested rum because of the kiddywinks. I didn't soak the fruit, I bought the Tescos luxury one which supposedly doesn't need it. Well anyway it smells nice enough - but what do I do now? Just wrap and put away? Does it need "feeding"? When should I ice it? Thanks! I am also cooking a goose for the first time ever this year so any goose related tips would also be welcome!!

It shouldn't need feeding. You can ice it and marzipan it whenver you want - fruit cake iced keeps for literally years. I have done the same recipe and am going to marzipan and ice this week.

I wrap mine first in greaseproof paper then foil and leave it somewhere cool. I don't marzipan it until Xmas week because the icing can get a bit hard.
