Dried Porcini mushrooms- are they meant to smell like something that died months ago?

Love mushrooms but porcini smell like unwashed ass crack. They don't taste nice either.

I wouldn't say it's like something that has died, but very strong yes. Like a cross between earth and Bisto gravy granules!
