Using refrigerated egg whites in carton past their BBD???!!!

Hi

I bought a carton of egg whites to make macaroons, forgetting my toddler and job might cause a few delays. So they went out of date on 17 Sep but I've never opened the carton. What do you think? It feels such a waste to chuck them as they're quite expensive too.

Thanks for your help!

I think they'll be fine, particularly as they're not opened yet. I frequently eat cartoned egg whites past their best before date and have never had any issues.

If it is the best before date and not the use by date you should be fine

Do the float test. If they float they are off, if they sink they are OK. Simple.

Thanks guys. These are liquid egg whites in a carton, so don't think the usual 'check if it floats or sinks' test will work!
