Help! What's the name of that apple pudding recipe where you cook the apples in a pan and then press a dough over the top...

...or something like that anyway. I'm picturing sort of caramelised apples on top of a think suet-ty dough?

God I'm hungry.

Tarte tatin?

MummySparkle · 23/09/2015 17:01

Apple Charlotte?

GrimbleGrog · 23/09/2015 17:02

Almost, but I have a feeling the dough is heavier.

Yes, the thing I'm thinking off isn't puff you see. I'm going to make it up, it's possible I've just imagined this thing. I'll let you know.

Sounds tasty whatever it is! GrimbleGrog's Apple Tasty Pastry?

Coletterbox · 23/09/2015 19:05

Sounds like tarte tatin to me...

bookbook · 23/09/2015 19:35

Clafouti? , though its a batter, and not apples normally :)

WhatsGoingOnEh · 25/09/2015 08:16

Isn't that an Apple Betty or something? (I love really old cookbooks.)

WhatsGoingOnEh · 25/09/2015 08:19

No, I'm wrong. I just googled and Apple Betty, or Brown Betty, is basically just a US version of crumble.

I think I know the one you mean, but I remember it as cooking apples wrapped in suet pastry and baked. Is that right?

TheOddity · 25/09/2015 08:40

Apple cobbler

TheOddity · 25/09/2015 08:42

Now I need it!

apple dappy?

Geepee71 · 04/10/2015 20:09

Is it a cobbler?

MarthasHarbour · 06/10/2015 12:24

Ah you are talking about Eves pudding.

Basically chopped apples in the base of the bowl, then pour victoria sponge mixture over it. whack in the oven for 40 mins.

Hot apple cake!!

Smidge001 · 06/10/2015 12:32

My mum makes something where she literally squidges dough on the top of the apples, and has always called it Danish Apple pudding/cake.
