Can you buy oven chips that don't have added salt?

I suspect not, because they need a coating to make them go crispy. I buy Sainsbury's Taste the Difference extra chunky chips - they're only 0.5g salt and 209 calories for 1/6 of the pack, which is a generous adult portion.

Have you tried making them yourself by par boiling the pototes spraying with fry light and sticking them in the oven they are slimming world chips but are really lovely.

agree with ledodgy - Slimming worls chips are nice!

even faster and brown quicker if you microwave them for 5 mins instead of par boiling.

Ordinary oven chips - supermarket own-brand or mccains - they are just potato and oil (unless the ingredient list lies?) Don't buy crappy home-fries.

Flavour and quality vary wildly though, even within the same brand.

lol fortyplus. I listened to a Liverpool radio quiz once it was a really easy question with lots of clues and the answer was potato the woman could not get it at all. She rang in the next week and said it was spuds? Why didn't you just say so!

JanH - I bet if you look at the ingredients again it'll say Potatoes, Sunflower Oil, Coating.
Then underneath it lists the ingredients in the coating. Might be wrong, but those supermarket people are a crafty bunch!

Nope - I did! - potatoes, oil. No coating on "oven chips".

That's good, then. I don't often eat chips but I do like the chunky ones best!
