Help me feed my family

Morning All

I desperately need some new ideas and help to meal plan. I (think) I have depression and thinking of what to cook everyday is really getting me down, we are getting take away on a weekly basis. DP does his bit but relies on to decide/ for ideas.

There are 4 of us - me, DP, DS1 5 and DS2 2. Ds1 has autism and has major issues with foods/textures.

I need ideas mainly for evening meals and healthy snacks for the boys.

DS1 would live on fish fingers if we let him, he will only eat dry foods. he loves the breaded chicken from the Mumsnet recipe book. DS2 will eat what is put in front of him.

We currently have-

Chicken pesto pasta
Chicken Salad or jacket potato
Steak
Meatballs spaghetti
Chicken Fajitas
Breakfast tea
Roast lunch - lamb chicken veg
Chilli beef noodles

I have been meaning to write this post for months but keep putting it off!

I am very over weight and have just joined Slimming world so will be trying some of their recipes.

I am hoping that meal planning will help reduce the daily stress.

TIA

Macaroni cheese
Fried rice with meat and veg
Soups and stews
Omelettes
Spag Bol
Sausage and mash
Stir fries
Pasta bakes
Fish cakes with wedges and salad or veg

Are you getting help with the depression as well? While meal planning is good to help with this one particular stress it isn't going to alleviate all issues so please seek help if you haven't already.

And I'm sure your DH can help with ideas too, don't let him leave it all to you when you need help!

Thanks oddsocks. Some good ideas here.

I have a dr appointment tomorrow to talk it all through. It's been going on since Ds1 really so time I tried to get it sorted out.

I've just dug out some recipe books for inspiration!!

Recipe books are great. Loads of inspiration in there. I need to sort myself out a few more as well!

Good luck with the doctor too and well done on being proactive in getting better, I know it isn't easy Flowers

I do a weekday suppers section on my blog which may be helpful - it's all stuff that's quick to prepare but tasty and fairly healthy for a family :)
