caramel apple granny - please help me find a recipe!

Hi bakers!

Many years ago I went with my mum to a tea shop in the dales and ate the best desert I have ever had. Ever. It was called caramel apple granny. It had a pastry base. There were apples and caramel. I can't remember what else but it was amazing and now it is haunting my dreams. Does anyone know this cake/pie and have a recipe?

I know it as caramel Apple Betty. Pastry with stewed apples and the caramel on top?
