I would wrap in foil, and bake in oven.

Maybe 15 mins, check after 10 to see if it is cooked.

about half an inch or3/4 at widest, thank you

you have given me some confidence so am off to cook

Cover generously with milk, add chopped onion and parsley if you like, lots of pepper.
Bake at 180 for about 15-20 minutes.
