Friends round for dinner!

Having a few different evenings with friends round for dinner and was hoping for some meal ideas. One of them needs to be quite light as I was thinking of doing a substantial cheese board and maybe a chocolatey pud too Also needs to be not too much of a faff as we're out all day!
Others can be anything.
Any ideas?!
Thanks

Slow cooker Moroccan lamb with chickpeas and veg served with cous cous, hummus, green salad and flat breads. The cous cous can be made in minutes and the lamb can cook all day while you're out.

Noodle soup with thinly sliced beef or prawns and veg and Chinese spices. Serve with fresh chilli, coriander, peanuts, soy and hoisin. Would make quite a light meal and would be quick to cook and assemble.

Slow cooker jacket potatoes with a selection of different fillings.

Spinach, chickpea and prawn curry with a curry paste, tomato puree, coconut milk and peanut butter base.

Thor the night when you want to serve cheese, how about making them part of the main course - do a really lovely picnic-type spread. So bake a piece of ham, maybe buy a really good pork pie and do a few interesting salads. Some sort of wintery slaw maybe? And great bread and lots of pickles!

Also means you can do most of it the night before = winner!

This is a recipe for a great pork, chorizo & bean stew - it's Portuguese and called Feijoada. It's really easy to make but really has great flavourand is great just served with some crusty bread. www.eatdrinkcook.co.uk/recipe-feijoada/

For something lighter, here's a recipe for a Smoked Haddock & Prawn Chowder - again, really easy but tastes really luxurious. Another one that goes well with crusty bread :)

Lastly, for a lighter take on a roast dinner, here's a recipe for Simple Roast Chicken with a fresh bulgur wheat salad.
