Chicken and leek pie

Any delicious suggestions?
DH thinks that it should be served with gravy but I think no way! It'll be accompanied by creamy mash and glazed carrots.

Should it have gravy?! I imagined that chicken and leek would be lighter and juicy enough but DH thinks it'll be too dry with mash.

Help!

If you go with a version of Jamie's Christmas turkey and leek pie, the gravy you make as part of making the pie is delish!

This is bloody gorgeous I just serve with new potatoes and veg.

TyneTeas · 23/08/2015 23:10

would chicken and leek pie not have a white sauce in it and therefore no need of gravy?

TyneTeas · 23/08/2015 23:11

or white wine sauce : )

I was going to recommend the same one as SwedishEdith. It really is good. I often add chunks of proper home cooked ham to it and we eat it with veg and mash (no gravy needed).

That's what I thought, TyneTeas.
Grateful for all your help - off yo look at your links now. Thanks!

Howabout - I made the Jamie Oliver and Oh My Gosh it was stunning.

Best Pie Ever.

I'm delighted to say that even though my guests had second helpings, there were a few remnants of pie and pastry left so when everyone was out watching a mid week footie match I slugged the remaining gravy into the pie dish, scrapped all remnants into a juicy gorgeous mess, reheated and served it with the leftover mash heated up.

SO nice. Am salivating just thinking about this.

Thanks! Grin

Oo I'm glad you loved it! It's fab isn't it! I always make it with some of the leftover turkey at Christmas and it's one of those leftover meals that taste nearly as good as the source meal!

Another one for the Jamie Turkey and Leek pie. I make it with Turkey leftovers until they run out then use Chicken for the rest of the year. Everybody loves it and in particular the sauce / gravy Smile

I make a mine with a white sauce, only with half milk, half chicken stock, and then a couple of dollops of creme fraiche stirred in at the end. Sounds odd but works. No gravy required.
