Salty butter

Just back from France - and have loved the foods. Particularly the butter. It seems far saltier than the butter we have here in UK?

I brought some back home with us. It is just a cheap, supermarket brand. but it really is quite tasty.

Anyone know of any good butters and where I can buy it? I know about President - I have splashed the cash on that before now.

I was about to suggest Brittany butter. You can get it in lots of places, not just Waitrose.

trixymalixy · 21/08/2015 18:12

I love the sainsburys butter with Cornish sea salt.

Highlove · 21/08/2015 19:05

What DancingQueen says. It's lush.

Highlove · 21/08/2015 19:06

Miles better than president!

Bunbaker · 21/08/2015 19:10

I tried some President because I had heard how nice it was. It wasn't any better than the butter I usually buy.

Oh wow! Thanks dancing!

The Fine Cheese Company does an English Butter with sea salt.

JemimaMuddledUp · 21/08/2015 20:27

Welsh butter tends to be saltier than English if you can get it where you live.

There is a brand called Dragon Butter, but whatever you do don't Google!

Anchor. Seriously. Deliciously salty and much much cheaper.

iwantgin · 21/08/2015 21:11

Thanks for all the replies.

We don't have a Waitrose anywhere near (I think not, anyway). I have had some with the salt crystals in before - lovely.

Anchor? Will try it.

Our Aldi's does a lovely butter with salt crystals. It's yummy and nearly half the price of most others.

iwantgin · 21/08/2015 21:54

Ah really Lucy.

I can get to Aldi easily.

will have a look .

Most large supermarkets do Brittany butter. It is a type of butter rather than a brand, like cheddar cheese.

Dragon butter. It's our go to brand and as JemimaPuddledUp says Welsh butter is generally saltier than English
