Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone can recommend a first cook book? I'm trying to find one (on behalf on my husband) for my step daughter (21) she has an 18 month old girl and can't cook to save her life I would be more than happy to teach her a few things but I don't think she would want that and her mother has obviously only taught her how to fry an egg. I don't want to get a book that will patronise her but I think she needs help in understanding how important a healthy varied diet is for her and her little girl. Any ideas would be great thanks in advance xx

River cottage babies and toddlers book - definitely not just full of baby food! Lots of simple, interesting recipes but also some stuff about nutrition.

Agree river cottage baby and toddler is perfect. Uncomplicated healthy food. I used to make packs from there. The baby led weaning cookbook is rubbish in my opinion but that's because I'm a decent cook. There's quite a few very straightforward things like pesto and fresh tomatoes on a pitta sort of stuff that I guess people make if they don't know how to cook?
