toddler wants yoghurt after every meal

15 month old has recently begun pointing to the fridge for a yoghurt after each meal (including breakfast). I have been trying to push fruit on him as a 'pudding' after lunch (he's not a big fruit fan so trying to get him to eat more). He's a skinny wee chap (2nd centile, always has been) but does eat well. Would it be so bad to give him 2 yoghurts a day (on some days, not everyday). One would be plain greek yoghurt.

Will he forevermore expect a yoghurt after every meal? And are there worse things to worry about?

What is the problem with yoghurt as dessert? Why do you think he shouldn't be having it? It's full of calcium.

when DS was very small he went through a stage of only eating fromage frais - nothing else, for weeks! He's 24 now and seems to be doing fine.

So give him yoghurt after every meal? As long as you're buying "proper" yoghurt and not a reduced fat / stuffed full of sugar / sweeteners job then I can't see the problem.

We get the Yeo Valley ones which are lovely.

You could try chopping some fruit up and mixing it in if you want him to eat more fruit.

If he's slender then full fat yoghurt sounds like a good thing for him to eat, to me Smile

Yoghurt is good full of calcium and tbh if you are using greek with fruit you beat me hands down for healthy choices Smile we had frubes for breakfast

Maybe blend up some fruit and mix it on with ghd yoghurt?

My husband still eats yoghurt after every meal. It doesn't seem to have done him any harm. I wouldn't worry about it.

Great, thanks for all the replies. I think my concern is less the amount of yoghurt he is getting, more to do with allowing him to believe that after every meal comes a yoghurt (expectation management). Guess it could be a lot worse!

He has the yep valley yogs and greek yoghurt, sometimes with fruit puree, sometimes plain - chopped fruit tends to be removed from mouth and discarded.

Ds2 (28 mo) wants yoghurt after most meals. If it was before or instead and stopping him eating other things then I might be less amenable, but as he's not much of a milk drinker it seems a good way to get some extra dairy.

He also insists on it in the little pot rather than in a bowl, so I've started buying big pots and decanting for serving (much cheaper).

My children eat yoghurt on their breakfast cereal instead of milk or with chopped or dried fruit.

I would definatly prefer yoghurt afte every meal rather than cake or ice cream (which mil got Ds expecting)
