Gnocchi - sauce / flavouring ideas

I am going to try and make this for the first time next week. I have found a Delia recipe for the actual gnocchi, but wanted to know a good recipe for the sauce or flavouring? It is for adults and the kids (2 & 4) so looking for something they won't turn they're noses up at as they have never eaten it before (nor me!)

I love it with blue cheese, bacon and pine nuts! not sure how blue cheese would sit with your dc though.

remember not just to boil them but you can fry them in some butter (and garlic?) after to crisp up the outside.

love gnocchi!

Thank you both, I am not the biggest fan of blue cheese currently but I am really trying to like it! It sounds yummy tho - how do you make it? Fry the gnocchi after boiling and throw the bacon and pine nuts in?

I already have chorizo and spinach in the freezer so I will give that a bash! Mmmm it's making me hungry :)

Garlic butter with herbs goes down well. Mushrooms too. Doubt it's authentic!

I do sweet potato gnocchi with spinach and goats cheese.

I do it with bolognese or tomato sauce if veggie and baked with cheese in oven.

Also gnocchi fried for texture with spinach and sundried tomatoes is lovely.

Fried in a bit of butter, that is

Fried with bacon and spinach in a Parmesan, garlic and cream sauce. Kids are 7, 5 and 2 and all love it.

I've not made it myself (just bookmarked it!) but here's a recipe for gnocchi with creamy pesto and green beans

I second just frying in butter too, with a little bit of garlic and sprinkled with some parmesan after, proper comfort food!

We like it with a spicy tomato sauce and some sausage and spinach stirred through. Big bowl of salad and some crusty bread (I have teenage boys with hollow legs) on the side.
