How to freeze apricots?

I've waited weeks and the blasted things wait until I have a stinking cold, tasting nothing, to seem ripe! There are heaps of them. I'm not the jam making type. Can I simply wash them and bung them in the freezer?

Ps. I plan just to make crumble and the like with them. Thanks

Slice in half to destone, then toss in caster sugar, (in a poly bag works well) then dry/open freeze on trays, once frozen, bag up and use as required.

Or poach in minimal liquid, bag up in usable portions, takes up more freezer space thouh I find.

I usually use vanilla sugar with apricots.
