Making a curry run out of ginger

I want to make a curry for tomorrow in the slow cooker but have no fresh ginger, can I use dried powdered instead?

I would probably just leave it out, unlikely to be a hugely noticeable change to taste in most curries

I agree, I think the powdered is a very different flavour. It doesn't help you now, but you can freeze ginger. I keep a load in the freezer and grate it frozen into curries. Works perfectly and saves money as generally you use a bit and then the rest of it turns mouldy.

I use the powdered one at times. There is not much difference. I like mine spicy so I cant do without ginger. I don't think there is any obvious difference. worth a try for future proofing.

There are loads of lovely curry recipes that don't contain ginger. Ground ginger is not a good substitute.
