fairy cakes or something better with fondant icing?

I have some fondant icing left over from making a birthday cake. I was going to use up the rest on fairy cakes, but thinking about it i'm not sure that my usual fairy cake recipe (basically a Victoria sandwich batter spooned into cases) would work. I made a madeira cake for the birthday cake because advice online - including here - was that a firmer cake would be better with fondant, and it worked really well. Can I use the madeira cake recipe for fairy cakes? or something else? I'm perfectly capable of eating fondant icing without any cake, so if it all goes wrong I can destroy the evidence!

You could definitely use your Victoria sponge recipe , maybe make some butter cream then make fondant decorations for the top ?

I use fondant all the time for cakes and regularly make Victoria sponges and they've been fine.

So hungry now
