Quorn...what do you do with it?

I need to get ds2 (6) eating more protein. He refuses meat of all kinds.
So I figure quorn would be good as its TVT.
What do you make with it?
Does it taste of much?
Is it easy to cook with?
Thanks!

Yes, hiding food is a tricky business. I try not to, but I'm not above saying turkey is chicken. Grin That worked for quite some time, and when he finally realised it was turkey after a few years, he decided that was okay because turkey was good. Whew!

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 04/08/2015 09:38

Baddz does he have pain meds for that? Sounds awful!

Baddz · 04/08/2015 09:51

Yes.
Thought it was appendicitis when it first happened!
Luckily his old paed was the one who discharged him and he just looked at me and said..."yeah...it's abdominal migraine, start him on these meds and come back and see me if it gets worse"
So he is on pizotifen nightly and we have a referral back to paed. Long wait though.
He doesn't tend to vomit now since the meds but he seems to be in pain every day.
Both my kids would know instantly if I tried to hide food...they both smell their food before they eat it...I do worry they think I'm trying to poison them or something! :)

Ooooh my sympathies on the glasses. The people at SpecSavers know me by name, on sight. We've been in there to repair/replace both dcs' glasses that many times! Blush

I buy glasses in bulk.

Sorry for the stupid question, what´s an abdominal migraine?

Baddz · 04/08/2015 13:42

My exact response to the dr! :)
Basically it's a type of migraine (up to 10% of young people with migraine get this type) where the pain is in the abdomen rather than the head. The pain can be quite severe :( Vomiting usually occurs too. If you google the NHS website has a really good explanation...better than mine, anyway! :)

Hello!
Just thought I would update as you were all kind enough to to reply...
I took my ds to the dr this morning.
She agrees with me that he has reflux (The throat clearing etc) So he now has meds for that.
She has also agreed to refer him to a dietician! So I am pleased and feel I am doing something for him.
Thanks again for all your input.
