Family meal that my 9yo can cook

Before school holidays my children write a "wish list" of things they would like to do. It's great for giving me ideas of things to do, (and they are well aware that it is not a binding contract!) My 9 yo wrote that she would like to cook dinner for the family herself. I thought this was a great idea and she is planning to make dinner on Tuesday as her Dad comes over for dinner on a Tuesday so she'll get to cook for 4 of us, (Me, her dad and DD-6).

She's super sensible and so I'd trust her with doing most jobs, she knows how to make real gravy and sometimes does it for Sunday lunch when I need a hand.

So, looking for something fairly straight forward and a bit of fun. any ideas of what she could make?

Bolognese?

Sausage and mash and onion gravy?
Meatballs in tomato sauce with pasta?
Tuna kedgeree?
Corned beef hash?

How about baked potatoes, then scoop out the centre, mash with butter, cheese etc and whatever other fillings she'd like to choose. She could do various flavours like cheese and bacon, broccoli, onion, etc. she could be creative. Then stuff the potato skins and bake again to brown. Serve with a salad - she could create a dressing.

Tuna bake
Enchiladas (you can get a tinned mince or sauce I think)
Club sandwich with homemade chips

How about a BBQ, even an indoor one eg make burgers or kebabs ready to grill and then do the salads. Lots for her to research and decide, lots of cutting and preparing but could be really simple also.

My DD used to like making Jamie Oliver's 5 hour lamb (You don't need to use a full leg of lamb - it works with any small joint or even chops). It ends up looking like a Sunday roast and looks really impressive in the middle of the table. Buy some fresh crusty bread to serve with it - or let her have a go at making her own.

Macaroni cheese? Knowing how to make proper cheese sauce is a useful skill in itself and shouldn't be beyond a sensible nine year old.

Cajun chicken with rice?
A risotto can be quite easy so long as they remember to stir it frequently.
Soup?

DSD 10 does toad in the hole- quite easy if they've made pancake batter before

Corned Beef hash
Beef and Ale (slow cooked) with mash and veg
Gammon joint with salad and new potatoes (with a loaf of crusty bread in out house aswell!)

Well, DS who is 10 made an amazing pizza for us on Friday. He made the dough, the tomato sauce and assembled a stuffed crust meaty version; a vegetable version and a potato, rosemary and garlic vegan version for me. Plus doughballs and salad. Quite straightforward, lots of fun to do.

Lasagne
The fakeaway doner kebab is nice and easy served with pita, salad the usual.

Hi and thanks for all the responses. After much deliberation, she has decided to do the baked potatoes that Peekaboo1 suggested. These are called "lid potatoes" in Milly Molly Mandy! Lots of ideas for future reference too. Your DSs creation sounds amazing TherealMM!
