Can I just make the stock in the stew and take out the big bones

d'ya know what I mean .. I have a pan of stock simmering and it will take about 2 hours yet then I'll make Irish stew with it

Can I just make the stew now (which also takes 2 - 3 hours to cook down) with the stock bones .. as stew has carrots, onion and celery in it too?

Think that would be fine Twiglett.
Don't see it would be different fron making soup with bones

I'm going to try it then

How's the stock/stew going Twig???

Twiglett · 21/11/2006 17:12

well it worked on taste

but I think the difference is the risk of getting little bits of bone in your stew so think next time I'll do it the proper way to save the faff of checking all the plates
